Aikido 8-Day SUMMER CAMP REVIEW 1

The Aikido Summer Camp runs for 8 days and is a great place to try Aikido, socialise with other people and learn how to properly defend yourself. Every lesson starts with a group talk, where Martin Acton (Chief Aikido Instructor) talks to us about confidence, a general recap of what we've learned from the past few days and how others should treat you.    After the group discussions, pupils begin to exercise that will really push you to your limits; saying this however, Martin always finds different ways to make these warm-ups different and fun throughout the 8 days, even if your are on fire!    The second half of the 2 hour lesson is where pupils partner up and learn new Aikido techniques as well as helping each other to perfect them. I felt that Martin was very approachable. If I needed help and he was never judgmental or negative about it.    Martin Acton's Aikido Summer Camp is a great place to socialise, increase your confidence and use the time during the Summer break productively. I highly recommend that everyone goes for the full 8 days and think about joining the institute if they enjoyed the camp. - Joshua Mcgreevy

AIKIDO 8-DAY SUMMER CAMP
REVIEW 2

"This year’s aikido 8 days summer camp was outstanding. During the eight days we have learnt how to deal with fear and negativity with Martin Acton sensei teaching us mindful breathing to deal with negative emotions. We have learnt how to stand and sit with good posture and how to be confident. We have learnt self defence techniques against a range of attacks including punches, kicks, grabs and shoves. Martin Acton sensei gave us good advice about life lessons and how to improve our aikido. The warm ups were excellent as they combined cardio with core work and worked every muscle group. In recent weeks I have noticed an increase in my strength. The camp also included many fun games so that everybody was happy during the eight days. Thank you sensei," - Niall Brolly
