Make today something to be proud of

Everyone has twenty-four hours in a day. You have the power to make today something that you regret or something you can be proud of. Everything starts with a thought. The thought leads to a feeling and a feeling is followed by an action.
Own the day! Today you are going to make today count in everything that you think, say, and do. When you walk into a room you are going to brighten that room. People are going to gasp when they see you because they will feel your powerful positive presence. Today you are reaching for brilliance stand for excellence and love everything that is in your life, the good, bad and the ugly.

You are not merely wanting to be the best at what you do. People will consider you world class when you give your all, holding nothing back, stay true to your dreams and pursue your ideals.
Nothing may happen for a while. That is just how things appear. Everything matters every choice, decision and conclusion matters. The world turns at its own pace, not man's pace. Be patient. Believe. What you desire is coming to you if you hold tight and don’t waver. A Master stone cutter chips away at a large piece of a stone day in and day out. He devotes himself, invests his whole mind body and spirit into the job and finally with one last blow he is finished. Before his eyes out of the stone stands a beautiful world-class work of art. Michael Angelo’s “David”.
Have the courage to present your gifts with all your being. By giving to the maximum of your ability this will yield spectacular rewards. Today is the best time to be the best you.

Sumiko was a 30-year-old brain surgeon in Tokyo and she joined my dojo in Yokohama, Japan. She was one of the best students I have ever taught. She moved so gracefully like a little doll. Absolutely fantastic at whatever she put her hand to. When I showed her a technique, she would watch it from several perspectives, after that she would make notes, then go on to experiment with the technique playing with it using all her physical power (number 1), going to try it with no concentration or power at all (number 2) and then unifying her mind and body focusing on doing it exactly as I had shown her. 10 times out of 10 times she would nail it perfectly. Sumiko was so driven to make the most out of every day.

I asked her why she did what she did? She told me that nothing came easy for her in life, that whatever she wanted she had to work really hard at it because she was instinctively lazy and uncoordinated. When she was little she did badly in school because she could not focus on what was being taught. No one could help her and she was bullied by other students in her class because she was slower than them. One day a monk came and talked to her class and he inspired her to make each day a day to be proud of. Regardless of what others said or did, we all have the ability to make today better than yesterday.

From that talk, Sumiko decided to take her weakness and turn it into a strength. She paid more attention to what she was being taught, she asked questions and experimented with everything. Soon she developed a love for learning, growing and improving. She went on to graduate from medical school being the top student not only in her class but in the whole year.

She paid the price for success and when it came she enjoyed it fully. She lives every day being world class at everything she does. Sets the bar at its highest and lives at a level that few in the world will attain. Lives in a movie star house, she drives the top level automobiles, wears only top-level brand name clothing. Helps everyone she meets and never thinks she is better than anyone. When she sees someone struggling she is the first to go to that person and assists the person. Everyone loves Sumiko because she is the real genuine deal. Every day she starts the day with the thought “Today is another chance to excel and to be so good that when I put my head down to sleep tonight I can say that I lived that day fully and I am proud of it”. Until next time, I wish you peace love and success. Martin Acton sensei

When you find your calling in life, there is a fire lit in your belly and there is only one way to go and that is forward. On the way, there will be a lot of what I call ‘rodeo days’, days when you are up and others when life catches you on the blind side, drops you to your knees and tries to choke the life right out of you. People betray you, lie to you, and try to undermine you. When it happens you have to have your hunger fired and ready. Know that you are here to give your best to the world and no matter what others say or do you keep going forward. Keep operating on your vision for yourself and the others. Rest if you must but don’t quit! Remember the most dependable hand you can rely on is the one at the end of your wrist!

How do you build hunger? You do it best by developing a “do or die” attitude. Formulate and develop the habit of making this hour better than the last hour and the next hour better than this one. The Japanese used this way of thinking to pick themselves up after they lost World War Two. They took the things the Americans give them, looked at them and found ways to make things better! They all stretched themselves for the higher good of the nation and within a very short time became the most advanced and influential nation in all of Asia and the world. The principles they applied to their daily life resulted in Japan becoming a worldwide leader that has amazed the Western countries for many years. The Japanese are a selfless people capable of immense sacrifice. How are they able to do this? Because they are completely devoted to a set of ideals. When they start something they go all the way to the end. 100% devotion, commitment and dedication. Nothing is “Too much” when there is a goal that people are working together to fulfil. Truly Japanese show what it means “One for all, and all for one.” How to unite with others. When one gets into trouble, everyone goes into battle in his honour.

Hungry people don’t have to be told to do their jobs, or to set high standards or to go at something full on. They realize those are the essential steps one has to take to reach the goals. People who are bound for greatness are the first up in the mornings and last to sleep at night. They are driven, motivated and inspired to succeed.

My Master Iwao Tamura Sensei and I worked in Yokohama Japan, he was so driven every day in every way. He believed he was called to expand Aikido and share this great martial art to the world. He told me the name of the game is: Talk to people. If that did not produce the results you wanted, needed and expected then simply talk to more people. His dynamic approach really paid off. He had more training halls throughout Japan than anyone else. He told me “You have to get your material out there on a massive scale. Consider it your life’s mission. Give your best every day and tomorrow give more! When you build your foundation doing this no one can say you don’t deserve success. Keep your eyes fixed on the what you want, and how you can contribute to making this world better for you having lived in it.”

I hope this will help, inspire and motivate you to make the week ahead memorable, unforgettable and better than last week. Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

When life knocks you down always roll onto your back. Why? Because if you can look up you can get up, and if you can get up you can still keep moving forward. Wanting something is not enough. You have to be hungry for it. I have a deep-rooted love for higher learning of all kinds. Formal schooling bored me but I love to study on my own and in my own way. Since I was a teenager I have loved travelling to new places, meeting new people and trying new things. To travel more is to know more, to know more is to be more, to cultivate the self is to grow, to stretch and to broaden into the best you that you can be.
I was blessed with an inborn consciousness of wealth. I feel am rich and lucky even though I don’t have much money at this time. I know I can attain any financial goal I set my mind to. I am a big thinker and I want it all, money, fame, glamour, prestige, public acclaim and a place in history! These are goals I am working on now. There are a few important things I have to do in order to attain these things. I need to break rules that others have imposed on me that have restrained, inhibited and controlled me. I need to go within find, love and heal the child that I abandoned when I was a young man and bring him with me as we attain these goals together. If I don’t he will sabotage me and anything I try to do will be unsuccessful. Another important thing that I need to do is to figure out how to provide the best service possible for the whole of humanity! I am hungry, I want to thrive, I want it all. But I have a higher calling and this is unaffected by material circumstances. Giving to others is so enriching and this has been reward enough up till now. But now it is time to really start and go for it.
Most people are not living their dreams because of fear. Fear limits vision and lack of self-esteem is what keeps most people doing things that they don’t want to do. The same reason why people can’t get out off a bad relationship where they are abused, unhappy or where it is unfulfilling. They can’t see themselves beyond that relationship. They can’t see themselves enjoying life, without that person. They think this is all that they can do. The same reason people get stuck at a certain level in life, they can’t see things getting better for them. They think this is it. This is all they deserve. This way of seeing and thinking has been passed on to them. It is no good me telling these people that they are right or wrong because that does not help. Instead, I ask you if you are in this situation is your way of seeing and thinking resourceful or not? If it is not resourceful then dump it and try seeing and thinking in a different way.
Fear is just energy. It has a purpose and that purpose is to keep you safe. But when it is taken too far it begins to take control over your life. It then becomes a monster that can destroy you, it will kill your hopes, it will put you in hospital, it will age you and it will hold you back from doing something that you know within yourself that you are capable of doing but it will paralyze you. It will make you feel like you are in a hypnotic trance. What is the benefit of letting fear hold you back? What is the benefit of giving up on yourself? What is the benefit of not standing up, pulling your shoulders back and taking life on? You want to be safe! The best way to deal with fear is to invite it up and let it go.
You can be, do and have anything you want in life. it comes down to how hungry are you for it. Will you pay the price for it gladly? If you say yes then you will have the power to jump out of bed every day like a child waking up on Christmas morning. You know that today is your day. You are always in the right place at the right time with the right person. Go and make your dream a reality. Until next time I wish you peace love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

Recently it came to my attention that a lot of people here in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom are self-harming and committing suicide. I was asked if I would work with a local charity to help solve these problems. Of course, I am happy to help in any way I can. So I have been asked to put together a program to motivate and inspire these people and to help them see life from a new perspective.
In Japan I had worked with people who were also self-harming, that tried to commit suicide and that were totally depressed, pessimistic, and hopeless. This experience was priceless because the training I got showed me there is a way to help these people. This is a little of what I hope to share.
The life you lead is a choice. You can be a victim with a “poor me” mentality. Always looking for the easy path. Wanting others to take care of you. Not living, only getting by day by day. Thinking negatively, complaining and resenting everything and everyone. Taking, demanding and fighting all the time. Walking around with a chip on your shoulder thinking the world owes you. Or you can decide to make things better!
You have total control, power and ability to live an exceptional, majestic and superior life. One of momentous significance. One that can impact not only a few people around you but a life that can impact the world and history.
Where do you start? Well, I start with a vision, an image and a purpose. To become successful you have to have some idea of what it means to be successful. Who in your opinion is successful? For me, I have many role models Mohammed Ali, Bruce Lee, the Dali Lama and several others. I like certain things about the Dali Lama how he communicates and makes everyone he talks to feel like he or she is the most important person in the world.
When I have to talk to someone that I feel nervous with I put myself into a certain mindset. I sometimes ask myself how would the Dali Lama talk to this person. I imagine I am the Dali Lama and I want this person to feel very special. Suddenly I am filled with warmth, love and confidence, and that person that I am going to talk to really is the most important person in the world for me during that time.
Respect is very important. Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect things and places then you make everything better. Everyone wants respect, approval, control and to be safe. Before you can give these things to others you first have to have them yourself. You obtain these things by going within and tapping into your unlimited resources. Your True Self. Meditation and prayer are great tools to help you do this.
They say practice makes perfect. I disagree. Practice makes an improvement. You can always better your best. You can always go beyond everything you have ever done. You never hit a state of perfection. You are always bigger than what you do. All you are looking for are new breakthroughs. Through practice, practice and practice you get better, better and better. You will still have days when life knocks you to your knees. But if life does not kill you then you can always get back up onto your feet again, wipe away the blood, sweat and tears and keep moving forward. You need to feed your spirit by reading positive books, listen to motivational talks, hang around positive people that will help you feel good as you are in the process of transforming your life. Getting unstuck means you start to live life on your terms, instead of just gliding through every day on autopilot. You are aware, stimulated and excited about your unfolding future. Someone taught me in the USA that life is a gift from God and how you live it is your gift back to Him or HER. I believe this to my deepest core and every day I get up thankful for another opportunity to grow, to love and to serve God, his children and the world. I would like to share something I just read today that really inspired me. It is called “What is Life?”
Life is a challenge. Live it. Life is a gift. Accept it. Life is an adventure. Dare it.
Life is a sorrow. Overcome it. Life is a tragedy. Face it. Life is a duty. Perform it. Life is a game. Play it. Life is a mystery. Solve it. Life is a song. Sing it. Life is an opportunity. Take it. Life is a journey. Complete it. Life is a promise. Fulfill it. Life is a beauty. Praise it. Life is a struggle. Fight it. Life is a goal. Achieve it. Life is a puzzle. Solve it.
Isn’t this fantastic?
Suicide is not on option! It will not solve your problems, it will cause additional problems that you have no idea how long it will take to resolve. No matter how hard it gets there is always hope, help and another choice. Be smart, strong and keep the faith. Until next time I wish you peace love and success. Martin Acton Sensei.

How you live your life is a result of your state of mind. My Aikido Master Koichi Tohei Sensei taught me to expose myself to positive messages. Every day we can program our mind for failure of success. Read a newspaper, listen to the news on the TV or the radio, it is at least 99.9% negative. You are not helping to solve anything when you just soak this bad stuff in. Expose your mind to positive messages. Listen to motivation audio books every day, Feed your mind with positive images, sounds and feelings. It is a choice.
Today I want you to understand that there is so much more to you than you have been expressing. Your life right now is not a reflexion of your true potential, you have greatness within you and I want to encourage you to tap into it and discover the greatness within.
To become successful we first need to understand that greatness is a choice, it is not a destiny! It is a choice you have to make every day. When you wake up in the morning ask yourself which part of you are you going to give service to today, the mediocre part or the greatness part that you were chosen for?
You have more in you right now than just working on a job where they pay you just enough to keep you from throwing in the towel, and you work just enough to stop them from terminating you. Please get a bigger picture, vision and image of yourself.
By exposing yourself to positive things that will begin to impact your behaviour. It will lead you to the place you should be. When you do this you are advertising for greatness. This will impact others and they will respond. If you keep moving forward and keep your eye on being better every day you will achieve whatever you want.
What is the highest amount of money you have made in one hour on your very best day? Can you make more? What was the first answer that popped into your head? NO or Yes? I guess most people will answer no.
A few years I met Malik, a black African American. His story really inspires me and I want to share it. He was born to a 15-year-old drug addict in a derelict, rat-infested apartment in a slum area in the Bronx, New York. His mother abandoned him right after his birth. She left him in a trash can to die. Malik was found just in time before he died. He was adopted and raised by a lady that cleaned rich peoples houses.
As Malik went to school he had a hard time learning, so people said he was slow in the head, called him a retard. He was held back in school and given special education. A new teacher came to his school and one day asked Malik to solve a problem on the board. Malik responded he couldn’t. The teacher asked why not. The other children shouted because he is Malik the retard. The teacher came around the desk looked at Malik and told them never say that again. To Malik, he said, “Young man, someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality. You are not a retard. Eradicate that notion from your heard right this minute! You have special talents within that you have not discovered yet!” This change Malik’s image and opinion of himself and from that day he worked hard to improve himself. He only graduated junior high school. Had no college degree.
When I met him he was a motivational speaker. He asked me the question What is the highest amount of money you have made in one hour on your very best day? I responded £100. He told me I was hanging out with the wrong people. If you hang out with nine broke people you will become number 10. MIT did a study that indicated you earn within $2000 to $3000 of your closest friends. People rub off on you, this is called “Mind Virus.” You need to upgrade your relationships. Ask yourself “Who is it I need to associate with, that I can learn from so that I can grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually and financially?”
On his best day up until a year before I met him he could make $260,000 in 1.5 hours talking to 8000 people. He got himself a life coach and now he can make $410,000 in one hour talking to 500 people. AMAZING! He told me to take an honest look at all your relationships and ask yourself “What is this relationship doing to me in every area of my life?” Is it a positive or negative influence? If you are the smartest person in your group, you need to get a new group. Sometimes we outgrow people and we have to leave them. That is life. So think, meditate and pray about this. Follow your intuition, you learn as you go. The world needs you, we need you now! So it is. God Bless you. God Bless your dreams. God Bless the greatness within you. Until next time I wish you peace love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

How do you know if your thinking is off? You will feel bad. When you feel bad it is because you are focusing on what you don’t want, what you don’t like, or what you are lacking.
You have the power to create your own opportunities. Every day in your mind create the ideal life you want. As children we are all very creative we daydream, we play, we act and it feels fantastic. When I was a child I loved cowboy movies. I dressed as a cowboy had my cowboy Stetson hat, my holster and toy Colt six-shooter, and rode my imaginary horse in the fields outside my home. I would lie on the grass and watch the clouds go by, I would make the clouds into pictures. With my thoughts in the clouds, there was nothing I could not do. Nowhere I could not go. I was fearless, courageous, honourable and always successful! I would run into the river and pretend the Indians were hiding in trees, I would shoot them and walk home a hero. The next day I would be a musketeer. I would play with my wooden sword and fight the evildoers. The king would knight me and I would be the man! Later I would play with my soccer ball and be the best soccer player in the world the crowds would cheer me when I score my goals. As we get older we are told to stop daydreaming to grow up and get real!
We crush, suppress and hide the innocence within us and many of us become jaded, pessimistic and negative. We see ourselves as being real, being honest, being responsible. But we feel bad.
You have the power to create your own opportunities. Every day in your mind create the ideal life you want. Get back in touch with the child inside you. Dream your dreams! Dream big, and make your dreams as real in your imagination as you possibly can.
Know what you want, where you want to go and who you want to be. Imagine yourself as being the perfect you, What would you look like? How would you sound? Who would you be with? How would you be spending your time? In Aikido this is called visualization practice. First, we do the activity or move in our heads. We imagine a person coming to attack, hurt, or injure us, and we deal with the situation successfully mentally. The next step a person physically comes and we do physically what we just did mentally a few seconds ago. The result is a success. The mind leads the body. That is the proper order of things. When the body leads the mind the order is reversed and things break down.
See yourself as being successful. Dress yourself up. Wear the best clothes, nice cologne, drive a high-class automobile, live in your ideal house. Have the ideal family. Create the ideal relationship with your partner, spouse, children and friends. See it, feel it, hear it, smell it and taste it. When you have done all this, you will feel so good. Tell yourself “It is possible! I deserve this! This is my destiny! I can make this all happen. I carry weight. I matter I count!” Get out of your head and step into your greatness.
Do the thing you are passionate about. Love the thing you do and everything else will work out. Keep the faith. Take a leap and develop your wings on the way down. You want something go get it. Do what you have to do. Pay the price. Put in the time. Give yourself completely, blood, sweat and tears, hold nothing back. What you want will show up. You will own it! No one or nothing will take it from you. You will have earned it. Until next time I wish you peace love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

You were born to achieve, accomplish and succeed. You were not born to fail, to suffer and to just exist. You are unique just like every other human being on this planet. There are no extra people in life. So we need to wake up, to realize the value within and share that value. There are no failures in life only choices and results. If you have made a few bad choices and the results are not what you want, you have the power within you to make new choices and create better results. It is possible!
Right now take a look at where you are in life. What goals do you have for the future? Most people don’t accomplish the goals, not because they set the goals too high, they set the goals too low, play it safe, and don’t believe in themselves. Lets set the bar higher. Tell yourself “ It is Possible! ” “ It is Possible! ” “ It is Possible!”
When I was a teenager I loved Mohammed Ali, and Bruce lee and they inspired me to become the person I am today. Mohammed Ali was intelligent, handsome and courageous both in the ring and outside. I loved the way he put everything into all his fights. He would predict which round he would beat his opponent. Regardless if he did it or not, he shouted out his intention! How may people are that brave?
No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I’m going to succeed! “ It is Possible! ” “I t is Possible! ” “ It is Possible! ” I have dream to use what I learnt in the USA and Japan to help educate people here in North and South Ireland and the UK to help people become their true, original and authentic self. My tools to serve people are Ki Aikido, meditation and massage. There is nothing better than watching a person leave you, walking a little taller, feeling better and believing he or she can be who they want to be. I love being a “ Character Builder ”.
Feed your mind with positive words everyday! Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death! Tell yourself “ It is Possible! ” “ It is Possible! ” “ It is Possible! ” even when you have no evidence to show, keep telling yourself “ It is Possible! ” There is nothing more powerful than a made up mind!
It’s a struggle sometimes to do that especially when you have negative people around you telling you that it is impossible. You can’t do it! That constantly remind you of your short comings, the things you lack, and the reasons they see for stopping you.
There is a story of two very young boys aged six and five. It was winter in Montana in the USA and the two little boys were playing on a lake that had iced over. As they got further out on the ice the six year old fell through the ice and into the freezing water. The five year old was trying to save his little buddy but he could not reach him. The six year old went under the ice and started drifting away. The five year looked around and saw trees nearby. He ran and climbed up a tree, he pulled and broke a large branch from the tree, and pulled it back onto the ice to his friend. He started to beat the ice like a wild man hitting it with every thing he had. The ice cracked, and he got the six year old out. When the paramedics arrived they resuscitated, revived and warmed the six year old. When they got him in the ambulance they looked at the 5 year old baffled, amazed and astonished that such a little guy could save his friend in such a way. They thought is was miraculous. The paramedics were scratching their heads trying to figure out how this tiny, puny little nothing of a boy could go up a tree, break off such a large branch by himself? Then come back, beat and break the ice and save his friend? There was an old Indian observing and listening to the amazement of the paramedics. He said “ I can tell you how he did it! ” “ How?  They asked. “ How could he do it ?” The Indian said “ There was no one here to tell him he couldn’t do it! ” You can build an ideal life for yourself. It is possible! Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

The amount you experience suffering in life is linked to how much you are resisting the fact that things are the way they are. When you experience suffering or discomfort you will find there is resistance. If you can change your attachments and needs to preferences, you will then be able to let go of your need for control over the uncontrollable. When the what is, is not what you want it to be, you will not suffer over it. The external events and people will not control your peace and happiness. You can avoid suffering only to the level that you are willing and able to let whatever happens to be ok. The individuals that live by rules, have-to’s and shoulds, suffer a lot because no matter how hard they work to protect their rules and push others to follow them, the rules will sometimes be broken. The more rules, the more inflexible they are, the more often they will be broken, the more they are broken will result in you creating suffering for yourself.
B.J. was a young man that suffered a lot in life. When he was born his father left and his mother hated him because every time she looked at him she saw his father. This got worse as B.J got older because he had his father’s looks and mannerisms. He was constantly told he was no good, that he would never amount to anything, and the world would be a better place if he had just died at birth. At school B.J. was introverted and other kids teased him for being slow, calling him stupid and weird. He tried hard to do what his mother and teachers told him and to follow the rules to the letter, but the more he tried the more he failed. He became very depressed, angry and got into fights every day.
One day he met a lady called Maria and he was captivated by her. She was a teacher in his school and she was the first person to treat B.J. as a real human being with respect and concern for him. She introduced him to meditation to help him control his anger and to discover how to stop reacting to what others said and did to him. He loved the meditation sessions and he learnt to see himself in a new positive, affirmative and loving way. His grades started to improve and he was able to make friends which was something he has never been able to do before.
One day when B.J. was in a meditation session he had a deep realization: Just let whatever happens be ok! You work towards the outcome you want, but you are unattached to the results. Your suffering is replaced by a deep compassion for all living things, including yourself. You let go of suffering and you gain the presence of mind to act effectively and appropriately. You become more competent and the attempts you make to create change works because you are better focused. When handling challenging situations, thoughts and feelings you don’t resist or suppress them, you accept them as completely as you can. You can ask yourself the following questions to find the way to proceed: “Given that this is the situation, what now?” “Moving ahead, how can I create what I want?” By using acceptance you empower yourself to heal, change, or release any unsettled mental or emotional stuff.
B.J. realized that his mother just could not love him the way he wanted and needed her too. So he accepted this and let it be ok. She eventually went and got treatment for her mental challenges and she improved over the following few years. B.J. and his mother now have a much closer relationship and she tells him that she will make a better grandmother than a mother. She is sorry for the negative things she did and said in the past. B.J. is growing into a fine young man with a bright future.
If you stop resisting, the discomfort will stop. You may experience sensations and these may be intense, however, the intensity will not be negative unless you resist it. More importantly, when you stop resisting, you will become much more effective in creating any external change you have a preference for and not an attachment to. It is my hope that sharing these things, you will be able to try them out for yourself and discover they work. Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton Sensei.

You will never fail as long as you keep going! There will be good and bad days and sometimes the bad days seem to outnumber the good, this is where faith comes in. You can acquire whatever you most want to accomplish if you just keep your eye on the outcome you want and keep doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward. The only person who loses in life is the one who gives up, quits, sits down and says
“ENOUGH! I am done. I give up.” You get and keep success by continuing to give your best shot every day. When you get hit it hurts, but wipe the tears away, take a deep breath and tell yourself “I can handle this!” Do something and things will turn around and you WILL win!

What is your idea of success? How will you know when you have it? What does it look like? How does it feel to be successful in your opinion? What will you be listening to and talking about when you have it made? Can you taste success? Does it have an aroma? I asked these questions to a monk a while ago, he gave me this answer, “To live day by day using what skills we have to obtain a happy love filled life is real success.” This is a beautiful answer I thought.

You can have the power, the knowledge, the wealth and the accolades, the choice and decision is up to you. How much are you willing to face your fears? To do the things others won’t or can’t do? To say “I was not born to fail! I was born to grow into a beautiful, happy, loving, abundant and mature person. From today I cast off all my old doubts, fears and inhibitions that have held me back and NOW I am revealing to the world the real, authentic and genuine me. I will dream big dreams, I will start to work smart and not only hard, I will make today better than yesterday and I will succeed. When our attitude towards ourself is positive, and we think on a big level and our attitude towards others is generous and compassionate, we attract big and generous percentages of success back to us. Be a giver, my friend.

Some people use PMA for a while but stop because they become lazy or they receive a setback and lose faith in it. They start off well but a negative event or events cause them to flip their talisman to NMA. This attracts more negative setbacks, despair and defeat. Are you going to let your mental attitude make you into a has been? Or are you going to roll up your sleeves, believe you will succeed, and become the historical person you are meant to be?

How will you know if you have and are using PMA? A Positive Mental Attitude is the correct mental attitude. It is made up of plus characteristics such as optimism, hope, faith, integrity, courage, generosity, kindliness, patience and good common sense. If you apply PMA to your daily life the payoff, reward and result you will obtain will be success, good health, wealth, contentment or whatever other definite desires you may have in life. Nothing will be denied to you as long as you follow the Universal laws of Infinite Intelligence and protect and respect the rights of all human beings. We had a dual purpose in life; To develop, grow and mature into a genuine loving person. The second purpose is to contribute to improving the world by helping others obtain their dreams, hopes and desires. If we do this, then we can say we have lived a successful life. Until next time, I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton sensei

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but think you can’t,
It’s almost certain you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will –
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he CAN. Anonymous

I love this poem and I hope it inspires you and touches your heart as deeply as it touches and inspires me.

This week I met a young man that came to check out my guided meditation class. He was really angry and suffering. After the session, we had a chance to talk privately in my office. He was angry because he had just lost his mother. I asked if she had been ill for a long time. He said she was the healthiest person he knew, she never got sick, not even a cold. A couple of weeks ago she went to the doctor just for a checkup. A few days later the doctor called her to come back for the results. He sat her down and without even looking at her told her that she had a week to live. Of course, this news was shocking and the poor woman didn't even question his opinion, she accepted it 100% unconditionally. Within three days of hearing this news, she was dead.
This shows how powerful a thought or a belief can be. I know another man that was very successful in life, he was rich, well educated and at the same time suffered from poor health. One day he had a heart attack and the doctor in the hospital told him that they were sending him home to die. There was nothing they could do for him. He should not even blow his nose or bend over to tie his shoe because the simplest act could kill him. Now, this also way very shocking news. The big difference was how the man responded.
He was a physicist and when he got home he started experimenting using his mind. He thought about all the years he had spent studying, gathering information, chasing money, playing with women and he asked himself what good is all the knowledge in the world if it can’t save him?
He started to reflect on his life deeply and the times he was most happy. He discovered that having sex with lots of women did not make him happy. Making boatloads of money did not fill the emptiness inside. He found that in his life he was most happy when he was giving love to others. Not taking it. So he delved deeper and discovered that by suppressing his emotions he had made himself ill. The next step was to look at how to restore his health. He discovered the releasing technique. He found a secret that no one knew before, that behind our emotions are three roots, the desire for approval, the desire for control and the desire to be safe. By releasing his wants he was able to get to a level of imperturbability. His health improved 100%. He never saw a doctor again for 40 years. he went on to make even more money by helping people learn his secret. And he wanted for nothing and everything just fell into his lap.

So the lesson I want to share with you this week is to be aware and careful about what thoughts and beliefs you are holding onto. Whatever you believe you will find evidence that it is true. I have many wealthy acquaintances and when I talked to them about how they became wealthy, they all believe money comes easily and naturally to them. I also come from a blue-collar working-class background. My father thinks money is the source of all evil. That it is hard to make money, and if you are rich you must have ripped someone off. Consequently, he has no money.

I know many people who are lonely and can’t find a suitable partner. They believe all the good men are taken, married. Many men I know think women are good for sex only. Then these same men complain that they have no one to love them. I have women friends who love and adore their husbands completely and they believe their husbands feel the same way about them, and they do. I have men friends that would never have sex with anyone but their wives and they are really happy and secure in their marriages.

Many people come to me and they are afraid of taking tests.
When I ask why? It is because they believe they are going to fail and that others will see them as being failures.

I have students that have PhDs, Mater degrees. I have taught brain surgeons, lawyers, judges. These people believe they can learn easily. They love to study, take tests, and strive to grow and improve their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

One group of friends and acquaintances are very pessimistic, negative and unhappy. The other group feels optimistic, hopeful and are thankful for what they have.

There are no wrong beliefs whatever you believe is true for you because your beliefs are based on your education and life experiences. So I do not wish to change anyone's beliefs. I am open to all opinions. The way I look at thoughts, opinions and beliefs is by asking myself: “Is this thought, opinion, or belief resourceful or not?” If it is I accept it and apply it to my own. If it is not, I respect that it is what another person has found to be true and I let it go. Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton Sensei

Fear can have a paralyzing effect on your life. You feel unclear, restricted and helpless.
When we persist in thoughts of fear, we actually create a very powerful energy force, and consequently, we attract the very thing we fear. People then ask how can I deal with this fear? You created it, so you can let it go. How? By recognizing your fear and all feelings are simply just a form of energy. You don’t have to judge the emotions as being good or bad with your intellect. You just close your eyes, put your head down towards your chest or stomach, invite the feeling up into your stomach or chest, feel the energy. Imagine there is a door or window in your stomach, open it and imagine the energy flowing out. Let it go. Give it your permission to leave. It wants to leave. It is not good for your body to keep this energy inside. Wait until it is gone then close the window or door. Next, give yourself approval and you will feel great. I do this every day and I know it works.

Some people suggest you ask yourself “Why am I feeling afraid?” This can produce more negative results and send you deeper into a negative state. When you throw out the garbage you don’t pick through it and try to figure out if this is smelling bad or rotting. Why is this so dirty? You just throw the garbage out. When you feel afraid, angry, sad, etc, you are focusing on what you don’t want. You are having give and take with the thought and it is attracting similar thoughts, this results in you feeling bad. I hope this makes sense. If you can understand this process then you have the power and ability to feel fantastic every single day! You never have to have another bad day in your life! Impossible you say? I say if you are prepared to take your mind off autopilot and focus it on the things you want and practice this technique you will feel much better. If I am wrong what do you have to lose, maybe an hour of your time? but if what I say works then you are going to be much better off, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Dan (not his real name) came to a guided meditation class I was teaching a few months ago. He was so stressed out, aggressive and angry during the session. No matter what I said it just made him feel worse. He fell into a state of deep depression and remained there for about three weeks. Every day he sat in a depression having give and take with all the bad things going on in his life, the country and the world. He lost hope and started drinking every day, this did not help, in fact, it only made things worse. Three weeks is a really long time for someone to be in this state. His friends tried to reach out to him but he just either ignored them or told them he was fine. Now Dan was very fortunate he had a strong wife and she does not take any nonsense. After three weeks she blew up and told Dan “Either get your shit together or I want a divorce! I am not putting up with this poor me crap anymore”. She tore into him and told him that if he wanted to die then do it quickly. Why wait and make others suffer? She shocked and scared the depression right out of him. I asked her if she was afraid that dealing with Dan the way she did may have pushed him to commit suicide? She looked me straight in the eye and said “He just needed a kick in the butt to see things in perspective. Which did he want more his wife and children or to feel sorry for himself and make all our lives hell? If he has chosen to remain in that state his wife would have taken his kids and left him. This was not an idle threat. She said treating him with kindness was sweet love and that was not what he needed. He needed tough love and that is what a real partner needs to be able to give sometimes.
Dan got up the next morning got cleaned up, went to work, and within a couple of days, he was back to his normal, positive, and motivated self.

Many successful men have a good woman in their lives. If we are fortunate enough to have such a woman we need to let her know how precious she is. Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton Sensei
