The times we live in now are confusing, frightening, and uncertain. The blame game is fully on, no matter where you look, someone is pointing the finger and accusing someone else of making the problem. The politicians, the media, the experts have no idea how to solve problems they just point out the problems. This is a common mistake people make, we think that because a person can point out failures, mistakes, and shortcomings, that he/she must have a better way of doing things. Unfortunately, most of them don't. They talk confidently, twist things in their favor, and often hope people won't realise that they have nothing better to offer. It is foolish, naive and dangerous to follow such people.
Looking, focusing on, and giving attention to a problem only makes the problem bigger. Have you ever found a solution to a problem just thinking, talking about it and playing the problem over and over again in your head? I haven't.
Really effective problem solvers talk very little, they observe, listen, and contemplate. Really smart people meditate. To fix a complex problem requires a quiet, calm and relaxed mindset. Every thought, every word spoken, every action we take either takes us towards a better way of living or away from it. Nothing is motionless. By stopping, looking inside ourselves, and evaluating each thought, each action plan, each counter proposal, we can reach an informed, educated, and enlightened solution.
When we want something this implies you lack the thing you want! Wanting only produces more wanting. Know that the answer, the solution will come. Let go trying to work it out in your head. The ego tells us it has the answer, it has us run here, there, and everywhere, jumping through hoops. When we still can't achieve what we want, it tells us to beat ourselves up. The ego is a liar! The subconscious mind has the solution. To tap into the subconscious mind we need to relax and it will provide what we ask of it.
Waiting can be divided into three categories, 1. meaningless waiting, here is where you wait in line, for a bus, to pay a bill, most people consider that a waste of time. 2. Waiting for life, the majority of people do this. We are stuck and unaware of it. This waiting robs us of life. Fear and ignorance allow us to wait. Waiting means we want a future and don't want the life we have now! It is being in a state of non-acceptance to what is. When we don't want to be here, we want to be there, we create stress, inner conflicts, and violent agitation. Waiting like this destroys your life. This is your life, it is not a dress rehearsal!. 3. Positive waiting, Active people have spent their time doing, not waiting. They recognise things that will likely work and pursue them. When they are presented with several options or opportunities that may require going in a new direction, they wait for their intuition to point out the correct path to take. They may not know what to do, so they do nothing externally. However internally they consult their subconscious, hand the situation over to it at night, and when they are relaxed the answer pops up. I hope you find this helpful. Until next time I wish you peace, love and success. Martin Acton sensei
